Our Story

From family dairy to family community

Leisureland has been in the same family for nearly a century, and that sense of care still guides how the community is run today.

  • 1920s

    Roy and Thora Clingman purchase land for a dairy in the Las Chollas Valley.

  • Early 1930s

    Their eldest son Harry and his bride, Lady Doris, expand by purchasing the nearby Few Acres Dairy Farm in Chula Vista, combining the two as Clingman Few Acres Dairy Farm.

  • 1964

    The dairy closes and the Clingmans build Leisureland on 23 acres of the former farm.

  • Today

    Harry and Lady Doris' grandson, Mark Koons, carries on the family business as General Manager.

Frequently asked questions

Are there age requirements?

A qualified resident must be 55 years of age or better. Guests who stay longer than 30 days must be at least 18 years of age.

What are the guest rules?

Guests of any age may stay up to 20 consecutive days and no more than 30 days in a year. A resident needs to accompany guests to common area amenities such as the pool, clubhouse, or laundry room.

How is parking handled?

Automobile parking is best handled using your home's driveway. There is no street parking in Leisureland since the roads are also considered fire lanes. Guest parking is dedicated for guest use only.

What is the pet policy?

In general, one dog and one cat are allowed per home. A pet agreement must be signed and becomes part of the lease.

May I move a mobile home I already own into the park?

Only new homes are permitted to be moved into the park. Leisureland works exclusively through reputable mobile home dealerships.
